Learning Support Assistant – Personal Handling & Intimate Care | Enfield | Immediate Start
Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant with strong experience in personal handling and intimate care? This Learning Support Assistant role is a rewarding long-term 1:1 opportunity supporting a Year 7 pupil who uses a wheelchair.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will provide dedicated support with personal handling, intimate care, mobility and access to learning throughout the school day.
This Learning Support Assistant position would suit someone caring, patient and confident supporting pupils with complex physical needs. The school is seeking a reliable Learning Support Assistant who can build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil.

As the Learning Support Assistant, your key responsibility will be providing high-quality personal and practical support throughout the school day, including:
- Personal handling and intimate care.
- Supporting with wheelchair mobility and safe moving and handling.
- Supporting with transfers and physical positioning as required.
- Catheter care, including catheter changes where appropriately trained and authorised and in line with the pupil’s care plan and school procedures.
- Helping the pupil access lessons, activities and wider school life.
- Encouraging independence, confidence and participation.
- Following individual care and support plans.
- Working closely with teachers, SEND staff and relevant professionals.

Who We’re Looking For
The ideal Learning Support Assistant will have:
- Previous experience providing personal handling and intimate care in a school, care or similar setting – essential.
- Experience supporting children or young people with physical disabilities, SEND or complex needs.
- Moving and handling training and practical experience.
- Experience with catheter care is highly desirable.
- A calm, patient and compassionate approach.
- Strong communication and emotional awareness.
- A discreet and respectful approach to intimate care.
- Reliability, resilience and professional boundaries.
- The ability to build a positive and trusting relationship with a young person.
- A good academic background would be an advantage.
