What You’ll Be Doing
As a Learning Support Practitioner-Horizons, you will play a vital role in supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) within our Horizons provision. You will provide 1:1, shared in-class and group support to learners with SEMH needs, dyslexia, autism, ADHD, and speech and language needs.
- Work under the supervision and guidance of tutors to support students with mild/moderate and complex learning difficulties and disabilities within Horizons
- Provide one-to-one and group support (direct and indirect) for students following foundation courses, primarily within the learning environment
- Collaborate with Student Support Advisors and the Youth Worker to support students with SEMH needs and encourage positive engagement and attendance
- Use learning support systems to ensure bespoke, individualised support plans are implemented effectively
- Support, monitor and track learner progress, attendance, behaviour and completion of vocational activity
- Promote inclusive practice and positive learning behaviours within the classroom
- Contribute to creating a safe, supportive and engaging learning environment
- Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with curriculum and support teams

What We’re Looking For
- A Level 2 qualification or above (or equivalent) in a relevant subject area
- Experience of providing effective coaching to students on a one-to-one or group basis to support success and progression
- Demonstrable ability to support, monitor and track learner progress, including attendance and behaviour
- Experience working with learners with SEN, including SEMH, dyslexia, autism, ADHD or speech and language needs
- Proficient IT skills and confidence using digital systems to record and monitor support
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A patient, adaptable and learner-focused approach
- Level 2 English and Maths (or equivalent)
