Job Description
As a Learning Support Specialist - Software Support, you will play a central role in delivering high-quality technical support across a range of industry-standard architectural and 3D design software. You will support students and staff in the development, modelling, and visualisation of digital work, enabling them to produce professional-standard outcomes and engage in innovative and exploratory practices.
While the primary focus of this role is to support Architecture provision, you will also provide support to staff and students across Art and Design disciplines as required, contributing to a flexible and responsive Learning Support service.
Working with undergraduate and postgraduate students and staff you will provide support both within specialist learning environments and directly within studio settings, embedding technical guidance into the day-to-day creative process. You will also contribute to teaching activity by supporting lectures, workshops, and independent study, helping to reinforce learning and develop student confidence in the use of digital tools. You will be required to maintain resources and facilities in an organised and supportive manner.
You will provide hands-on technical expertise across a range of software applications, including:
- Rhino (3D modelling and digital fabrication workflows)
- Revit (Building Information Modelling (BIM) and architectural design processes)
- AutoCAD (2D drafting, technical drawing, and design documentation)
- Blender (3D modelling, rendering, visualisation, and animation)
- GIS applications, such as QGIS or ArcGIS, for site analysis, mapping, and spatial data interpretation
- Adobe Creative Cloud (including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) for image editing, graphic communication, portfolio production, and presentation design

Key Responsibilities
- Support the end-to-end digital workflow, from concept development and modelling through to visualisation and final presentation outputs.
- Provide expert advice and one-to-one guidance to students within both workshop and studio environments, enabling them to use architectural and design software confidently and effectively.
- Maintain and support digital and technical resources, ensuring systems and facilities are reliable, safe, and aligned with current industry standards.
- Facilitate creative experimentation and professional-standard production in student work across architectural and interdisciplinary contexts.
- Work collaboratively with academic staff to support teaching delivery and embed best practice in digital workflows within studio-based learning.
- Provide a comprehensive support service to all users and contribute to the effective operation of Learning Support provision.
Essential Skills And Experience
- Demonstrable experience in supporting architectural and 3D design workflows, including modelling, rendering, and digital presentation.
- Strong working knowledge of software such as Rhino, Revit, and Blender, alongside advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign).
- Experience supporting students in studio-based, higher education or creative learning environments.
- Understanding of current digital practices within Architecture, including BIM and visualisation workflows.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively.
