Learning Platform Specialist

Our learning platforms keep around 10,000 apprentices a year moving through their training, and we need someone who can own them properly. Not just keep them ticking over, but understand how they connect, spot where they're creaking, and make them better.

We've grown this role from the ground up before. This time we're looking for someone who's already been there and done that, so they can hit the ground running from day one.

Who We Are

Apprentify Group is a portfolio of six companies, each with its own culture, personality and people. Across the group we support around 10,000 learners a year through apprenticeships, Skills Bootcamps, Adult Skills Fund provision, Free Courses for Jobs and commercial short courses. We work with high-profile clients including JD Sports, BT and Red Bull, and we've built a reputation for agility and quality, backed by an Ofsted Outstanding rating.

We're remote-first, fast-moving and honestly a bit chaotic. If you need everything mapped out before you start, this won't be the role for you. If you like a bit of ambiguity and get a kick out of fixing things properly, keep reading.

Quick Facts

  • Remote-first, UK based
  • Full-time, permanent
  • Reports into the learning technology function
  • Working across Canvas LMS, Bud and adjacent apprenticeship management systems

Life in the Role

You'll be the person who makes our learning platforms actually work. That means configuring and administering Canvas and Bud, building and maintaining digital learning programmes, and being the first port of call when something breaks.

A good chunk of the role is quality. You'll run structured QA checks on courses, checking formatting, accessibility, usability and whether things actually function the way they're supposed to. You'll work closely with curriculum, product, delivery and quality teams to turn programme requirements into learner journeys that hold up in practice.

You'll also have real scope to explore. We want someone who's genuinely curious about AI-enabled learning tools and emerging platforms, who'll research them, pilot them, and help us work out what's worth adopting. Over time you'll build into adjacent technical territory too, things like Microsoft 365, Azure, APIs and automation workflows, so there's plenty of room to grow the role rather than just maintain it.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You'll be the translator between technical systems and non-technical colleagues. Trainers and curriculum teams will come to you when something's not working, and you'll need to explain it in plain English and get it sorted, not just log a ticket and move on.

The Honest Hard Bit

You'll be working with systems and processes that are still evolving, sometimes without a clear playbook, and you'll need to be comfortable making progress anyway. You won't always have someone senior to hand a problem to. Part of the job is investigating things yourself, working out what's actually wrong, and only escalating once you've done the digging.

What You Bring

  • Experience with at least one learning management system, apprenticeship management system or comparable enterprise platform
  • A track record of picking up unfamiliar technology quickly and putting it to practical use
  • Strong problem-solving instincts, with the patience to investigate an issue properly rather than guessing
  • Confident communication, including the ability to explain technical problems clearly to non-technical colleagues
  • Comfort working independently in a remote setup, while keeping the right people in the loop

Nice to have, not dealbreakers:

  • Direct experience with Canvas LMS, Bud or similar apprenticeship platforms
  • Exposure to AI-enabled learning tools, content generation workflows or tech pilots
  • Familiarity with data imports, reporting, APIs or system integrations
  • Basic HTML, CSS or JavaScript
  • Awareness of Microsoft 365, Azure or Entra ID
  • Experience with eLearning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Rise or Adobe Captivate

Is This for You?

✔ You've got some hands-on platform or systems experience and you're ready to own more

✔ You're a genuine self-starter who doesn't wait to be told what to do next

✔ You're curious about AI and new tools, and you actually go and try them out

✔ You're comfortable when priorities shift and the playbook isn't fully written yet

✔ You can hold your own technically without a big team wrapped around you

✔ You communicate clearly, even when the problem is messy

This is not for you if:

✘ You need a fully defined process before you can get moving

✘ You'd rather escalate than investigate

✘ You're looking for a slow, predictable environment

✘ You want to stay purely hands-on and never touch the bigger picture
