About The Role
As the Leases Accountant, you will play a key role in managing the Group's lease accounting processes, ensuring compliance with accounting requirements. Reporting to the Fixed Asset & Leases Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining the lease accounting system, preparing month-end lease accounting, reconciliations, and reporting, whilst working closely with Property, Fleet, and Finance teams. You will also support technical lease accounting queries, acquisitions, audit requirements, and continuous improvements to lease accounting processes and controls.
What You’ll Do
- Own the end-to-end lease accounting process, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards.
- Maintain the lease accounting system and database, ensuring lease information is complete, accurate, and up to date.
- Prepare and process month-end lease accounting, including invoices, interest, depreciation, disposals, service charges, and rent accruals.
- Complete monthly IFRS 16 and single-entity lease reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies and clearing outstanding balances.
- Work closely with Property, Fleet, and Accounts Payable teams to ensure lease data is accurate and invoice/accrual differences are resolved.
- Prepare and review complex lease calculations, including new leases, modifications, reassessments, and terminations.
- Provide technical lease accounting support across the Group, including guidance on accounting treatment and compliance, and supporting IAS 17 reporting where required.
- Support year-end audit and acquisition activity, including preparing working papers, disclosures, and lease due diligence, while identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls, and system efficiencies.

What We Are Looking For
- Part-qualified or qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA).
- Previous experience in lease or financial accounting, with a strong understanding of IFRS 16 and FRS 102.
- Experience preparing lease accounting journals, reconciliations, and month-end reporting.
- Experience using ERP and lease accounting systems, with Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience desirable.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage deadlines and multiple priorities.
