Leaving Care Worker (Accommodation)

Salary: £29,542 - £33,119 per annum. Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week. Contract: Fixed-Term contract for 12 months Closing date: 20/10/2026

Role Purpose

Due to team members taking up various secondment opportunities, we now have another opportunity to join our friendly Leaving Care Accommodation Team as a 1 year seconded or fixed term full time (37hrs) Leaving Care Worker working directly with 18+ Care Leavers living in our own Leaving Care accommodation.

You will support young people who have left our care as children, in their next step within supported accommodation and developing their independent living skills ready for move-on to their own accommodation.

Your day-to-day work will involve balancing direct work with the young people alongside multi-agency working, recording, overseeing license agreements, and management of the houses. It can be challenging and emotionally demanding but is also rewarding.

You will work on a rota basis from Monday to Sunday, between 8.30am and 8pm. Weekend shifts attract weekend supplement pay. The rolling rota on a monthly basis means some weeks can be more than 37 hours, however the next week would then be less.

Key responsibilities

Your day-to-day work will involve:

  • Supporting care leavers aged 18-21 directly in our three homes based in Taunton and Bridgwater, and recording support provided
  • Developing young people’s skills, and supporting them with ASDAN work, including through practical sessions
  • Completing six-weekly reviews for key young people
  • Supporting with housing benefit claims
  • Managing maintenance tasks around the home and reporting these as required
  • Supporting with home management, including supporting and encouraging young people to take pride in their homes
  • Setting up rooms when young people are moving in
  • Working alongside allocated area Leaving Care Workers to make sure care leavers have access to all their care leaver entitlements
  • Providing information, advice and guidance to care leavers and supporting them to access services which will help them achieve their goals and live independently as young adults.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
