About The College
Hartlepool Sixth Form is the top performing Sixth Form college in the North East for student achievement, with 100% pass rate for over 30 courses and 98% of our student progressing to either College or employment.
Here in Hartlepool, we have been delivering highly successful courses for more than 50 years as the only dedicated sixth form college in the area. Situated on the outskirts of the town centre, we have excellent facilities for both academic and vocational study with excellent sports facilities, fully equipped science labs, and have recently invested in a new digital academy and a health simulation ward.

Taking Teaching Further & Additional Incentives
If you’re making the move into further education teaching, you may be eligible for the Taking Teaching Further (TTF) programme a funded route to help industry professionals retrain as FE teachers.
In addition, for roles in high-need subjects or regions you may also benefit from the government’s targeted retention incentive (formerly “levelling-up premium”) payments, worth up to £6,000 for eligible teachers in their first five years and teaching certain shortage subjects.

We are looking for an individual with substantial industry experience and a passion for sharing their knowledge with others. You will be able to engage and motivate learners, manage classroom environments effectively and support students to achieve their full potential.

About The Role
This is a rewarding opportunity for an ambitious candidate to join our team at Hartlepool Sixth form in a full-time role as a Lecturer and Programme Lead within the Health and Social care team. The successful candidate will work in a thriving department, which currently delivers Level 2 and 3 Health, Education and Care courses, including T levels in Health & Science, Health - Supporting the Adult Nurse, and NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care. You will not only teach, but also be involved with the team in reviewing and developing curriculum intent, ensuring schemes of learning for students are thoughtfully sequenced and career focused.
This role also offers the chance to contribute to shaping the future of health and care education, making a real difference in the lives of students and communities.
Role Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging sessions, ensuring curriculum relevance and alignment with the awarding body and college policies.
- Drive learner progression through robust tracking, monitoring and intervention strategies to support the retention of students, their achievements and positive outcomes.
- Champion the student experience by promoting pastoral care, wellbeing and safeguarding, tailoring support to individual needs including students with EHCPs
- Collaborate effectively across teams by developing and reviewing study programmes, sharing best practice and maintaining accurate and accessible course documentation and quality files.
- Lead on quality assurance and compliance for your study programmes.
Qualifications
- A level 6 qualification in a health or care related discipline essential
- A level 5 teaching qualification or commitment to complete within the first two years
- An Assessor's qualification or commitment to complete
- A level 4 Quality/Assurance qualification or commitment to complete
- A level 2 in Maths and English

Essential Skills & Experience
- Prior experience working in the health sector, with up to date knowledge of industry standard practice
- Working collaboratively with students and colleagues
- Planning and delivering work
- Developing appropriate and fair methods of assessment, able to provide constructive and timely feedback.
- Using digital technologies safely and effectively.
