Applications are invited for the above part time (0.5 FTE), temporary post within the School of Psychology, which has close links with the Centre for Mindfulness Research and Practice (CMRP).
This post forms part of a collaborative project with the Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) training team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative project between the School of Psychology and British Isles DBT Training to deliver a national, NHS England funded, distance-learning programme of PG Dip training in DBT.
This post will provide outstanding opportunities to develop skills in teaching, supervising and delivering Mindfulness and DBT alongside international experts in both Mindfulness and DBT treatment.
Candidates will have a Postgraduate degree or PhD (or be near completion for Grade 7 role) in relevant subject, experience of mindfulness-based teaching (e.g. MBSR, MBCT) along with significant personal mindfulness practice experience.
This fixed-term role is available from September 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter) until 31 August 2028.
As the programme is distance-learning with all teaching currently delivered online, candidates can reside from anywhere within the UK. Travel to in person graduation and biannual team meetings will be required.

Purpose of the Job
The post holder will deliver a module for DBT trainees (PMP-4015 Mindfulness in DBT Individual Therapy), part of the Postgraduate Diploma in DBT. The role focuses on deepening students’ mindfulness practice and their application of mindfulness within DBT. The postholder will also support other members of the PG Dip in DBT team in the marking and moderation of the other modules on the programme.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver teaching at postgraduate levels.
- Develop teaching materials and curricula.
- Provide academic and pastoral support.
- Participate in administrative duties within the School.
Teaching Duties:
- Plan and deliver lectures and tutorials.
- Provide constructive feedback to students.
- Act as personal tutor.
Administrative Duties:
- Contribute to programme development.
- Participate in recruitment and induction activities.
- Support marketing initiatives.
- Assist with programme administration and quality assurance.
FOR GRADE 8, IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE:
- Undertake an active role in mentoring less experienced members of staff within the College/School.

Qualifications/Training
TO BE APPOINTED AT GRADE 7:
Essential:
- Postgraduate degree or PhD (or be near completion) in relevant subject.
Desirable:
- Fellowship of Advance HE (or equivalent teaching qualification such as PGCertHE), or substantial higher education teaching experience with commitment to obtaining Fellowship.
Experience/Knowledge
Essential:
- Experience of mindfulness-based teaching (e.g. MBSR, MBCT).
- Significant personal mindfulness practice experience.
- Experience delivering mindfulness teaching.
- Effective teaching skills.
Desirable:
- Experience of DBT.
- Knowledge of mental health applications of mindfulness.
- Ability to innovate in teaching delivery.
- Strong organisational and teamwork skills.
Other
The ability to communicate in Welsh is desirable for this post.
TO BE APPOINTED AT GRADE 8:

- Post-graduate qualification or PhD in a relevant subject area.

Experience/Knowledge
Essential:

- Experience of teaching in higher education with evidence of successful student learning outcomes.
- Experience of module development and delivery in higher education.
- Evidence of conference or seminar presentations relating to teaching, learning, mindfulness, DBT, or related pedagogic practice.
- Ability to demonstrate innovative and engaging approaches to teaching.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritise workload and work to deadlines.
- Experience of DBT.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of mental health applications of mindfulness.
- Experience contributing to the wider student experience (e.g. recruitment, retention, student support, employability initiatives).
- Evidence of external networking, profile-raising, or professional engagement in mindfulness, DBT, or related fields.
- Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced colleagues.
- Experience developing and delivering online or distance-learning materials.
