Role: Health & Social Lecturer
Location: Tresham Campuses
Salary/Benefits: Salary is £22.50 per hour
Contract Type: Sessional – Hourly Paid until 25/06/2027

About The Role
We are currently seeking a Health & Social Lecturer to join our Health, Social and Childcare department at The Bedford College Group.
As a Health & Social Lecturer you play an important role in the success of our students through:
- Teaching, Learning & Student Achievement - Deliver, assess and verify programmes from Entry Level 3 to Level 5, providing high-quality learning experiences that support students to achieve success and reach their full potential.
- Curriculum Planning, Assessment & Quality Assurance - Develop schemes of work and learning resources, assess learner progress, meet awarding body requirements, carry out verification activities, and contribute to quality assurance and continuous improvement processes.
- Student Progress, Support & Administration - Monitor attendance, achievement and performance, maintain accurate records and reports, complete course administration, and provide timely support and intervention to help learners meet required standards.
- Curriculum Development & Employer Engagement - Contribute to curriculum innovation, programme development, employer partnerships, vocational opportunities, student recruitment activities, Open Days, and the promotion of college courses.
- Safeguarding, Inclusion & Professional Standards - Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, maintain safe and engaging learning environments, support positive student behaviour, and undertake continuous professional development to keep industry knowledge current.
About You
- Qualifications & Professional Development - Holds a degree in Health and Social Care (or related field), GCSE English and Maths, and is committed to ongoing professional development, with teaching, assessor and verifier qualifications desirable.
- Industry Knowledge & Teaching Experience - Brings recent Health and Social Care industry experience, up-to-date sector knowledge, and ideally experience teaching, training or mentoring learners within further education or professional settings.
- Student-Centred Teaching & Support - Able to create an inclusive, supportive learning environment that promotes student success, equality, diversity, safeguarding and positive outcomes for learners from diverse backgrounds.
- Communication, Organisation & Digital Skills - Demonstrates excellent interpersonal, organisational and influencing skills, with confidence using Microsoft Office, Teams, ProMonitor, Moodle and other digital learning platforms.
- Professionalism, Flexibility & Partnership Working - Works collaboratively across teams, upholds College values and professional standards, maintains health and safety responsibilities, and is flexible to travel and work across multiple locations as required.

What is an Associate?
Associates work on a short term basis as assigned. They teach or provide support services and they work with and are supported by core staff. As an Associate you will be issued with an Associate agreement, under this Agreement period you will be eligible to work on assignments offered to you. Typically an agreement runs from January to December and may be renewed thereafter.
About The Bedford College Group
The Bedford College Group was formed in 2017 following the merger of Bedford College and Tresham College and is now the largest provider of education in the South East Midlands, with over 15,000 students passing through our doors each year.
Today, the Group is made up of a family of colleges across Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire: Bedford College, Central Bedfordshire College and Tresham College in the towns of Bedford, Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard, Corby, Kettering and Wellingborough; Shuttleworth College, a specialist land-based college; The Bedford Sixth Form, (the only dedicated sixth form in Bedford); The Corby Sixth Form, (opened in September 2023); and the National College for Motorsport alongside Silverstone race circuit. To widen accessibility to education and training, the Group also has community-based Learning Centres in Bedford, Corby and Kettering which offer IT training.
