UKCBC operates as a teaching focused provider. Academic standards, curriculum design and awards are set by awarding body partners. UKCBC is responsible for ensuring that teaching delivery, assessment administration, academic support and the wider learning environment enable students to meet those standards and progress successfully through their studies and into positive destinations.
Job Purpose
The Lecturer is responsible for the effective delivery of approved curriculum content, assessment and feedback across Business Management programmes, including Foundation Year provision where applicable. Reporting to the Head of School, the role focuses on teaching delivery, learner engagement, module leadership, assessment practice and academic support. The role contributes to quality assurance and enhancement through reflective practice, evidence contribution and adherence to institutional expectations. The Lecturer holds responsibility for designated module leadership activity allocated within the School. This includes coordination of module delivery, assessment activity, Virtual Learning Environment management, student engagement monitoring and module level quality assurance processes. Working collaboratively with Senior Lecturers, and professional services teams, the role ensures that module delivery is academically coherent, operationally effective and aligned with institutional academic regulations, awarding body requirements and student success priorities.
Key Responsibilities
3.1 Teaching and Learning Delivery
- Deliver and plan high quality teaching across Business Management modules in line with approved learning outcomes, syllabuses and delivery plans.
- Facilitate teaching sessions using applied, inclusive and professionally relevant pedagogic approaches.
- Support students to develop academic confidence, subject understanding and independent learning capability.
- Deliver teaching and learning activities in alignment with institutional academic regulations, programme requirements and awarding body expectations.
- Contribute to the development of applied learning opportunities, authentic assessment approaches and professionally relevant learning experiences.
3.2 Module Leadership
- Hold responsibility for operational coordination of designated modules in line with approved module specifications and programme requirements.
- Coordinate module delivery activities across teaching groups, ensuring consistency of teaching, assessment and academic support.
- Maintain module level teaching plans, assessment schedules and learning activities in alignment with programme delivery requirements.
- Maintain and manage module areas within the Virtual Learning Environment, ensuring that teaching materials, assessment guidance and student communications are accurate, current and accessible.
- Monitor module level indicators including attendance, engagement, submission, attainment and student feedback, escalating concerns where appropriate.
- Coordinate operational aspects of module level moderation, standardisation and assessment activity in line with institutional and awarding body requirements.
- Contribute module level evaluation, reflection and enhancement activity through Review and Enhancement processes.
- Liaise with academic colleagues and professional services teams to ensure effective operational delivery of designated modules.

3.3 Assessment and Feedback
- Deliver and administer assessments in line with approved assessment briefs and institutional guidance.
- Mark student work and provide summative feedback within published deadlines and service expectations.
- Provide timely and constructive formative feedback that supports academic development and assessment readiness.
- Uphold academic integrity and follow institutional procedures relating to assessment, misconduct and academic conduct.
- Participate in moderation, second marking and standardisation activities where required.
3.4 Learner Engagement and Academic Support
- Monitor student engagement, attendance and participation within assigned modules.
- Identify students who may require additional academic support and take appropriate action in line with College processes.
- Work collaboratively with Assistant Lecturers and Student Support teams to support learner continuation and progression.
- Support delivery of academic support activities including tutorials, workshops and assessment preparation sessions where required.
- Promote active participation, inclusive learning and positive learner engagement within the classroom and digital learning environments.
3.5 Quality Assurance and Enhancement
- Deliver teaching and assessment in line with programme specifications, awarding body requirements and institutional quality expectations.
- Participate in quality assurance and enhancement activity, including module evaluation, teaching observation and Review and Enhancement processes.
- Contribute evidence and reflective input to quality assurance activity as required.
- Support implementation of enhancement actions arising from programme review, external examiner feedback or institutional quality processes.
- Maintain accurate and timely academic records in accordance with institutional and regulatory requirements.
3.6 Contribution to the Academic Team
- Work collaboratively with Senior Lecturers and academic colleagues to ensure consistency and coherence across modules and programmes.
- Contribute to programme review and enhancement activity as required.
- Support implementation of applied learning, inclusive teaching practice and digital learning approaches across programme delivery.
- Contribute positively to the academic culture of the School through collaborative working, professional engagement and continuous development.

Essential criteria
- Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in taught subject area.
- Experience delivering teaching or learning support in higher or further education.
- Experience of working with Virtual Learning Environments and digital teaching platforms, including Blackboard, Moodle or MS Teams.
- Experience of module level planning, delivery or coordination.
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage diverse learner groups.
Desirable criteria
- Master’s degree or higher qualification in a relevant subject area.
- Professional or industry experience within in taught subject area.
- Teaching qualification or professional recognition such as PGCHE, MA in Higher Education Practice, FHEA or equivalent.
