About the job:

Queen's Business School (QBS) at Queen's University Belfast is currently seeking to appoint one or more exceptional candidates to the post of Lecturer in Accounting.

The postholder will contribute to the design, development and delivery of Accounting modules and programmes, together with the development of teaching and learning strategies relevant to Accounting and its related disciplines.

Applicants may be considered for a pathway as either a Lecturer (Practice), or Lecturer (Research and Education). Staff on the Practice pathway will engage in scholarly activity and industry engagement as appropriate to Accounting. Staff on the Research and Education pathway will pursue academic research and teaching in Accounting.

  • Primary degree in relevant discipline - at 2.1/distinction level.
  • Postgraduate degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Appropriate and relevant professional qualification and post-qualification experience in accounting practice.
  • Relevant teaching and assessment experience in Accounting and related fields at University level and/or for a recognised Professional Accountancy Body in an area of accounting that fits with and/or enhances the School's portfolio.
  • Demonstrable ability to advance the teaching and practice engagement goals of QBS.

Successful candidates' application for Lecturer (Research and Education) should clearly demonstrate:

  • A completed PhD (or very close to completion) in Accounting or a related discipline.
  • An established programme of research activity and dissemination of original, high-quality Accounting research in line with accepted norms for Lecturer.
  • A developing track record of high-quality peer reviewed Accounting publications as appropriate to norms for Lecturer.
  • Evidence of the ability and willingness to teach at university level including design of new and innovative modules/pathways or assessment methods in Accounting.
  • Demonstrable ability to advance the teaching and research goals of QBS.
