About This Role

Sitting with the College of Arts, Technology and Environment, the School of Computing and Creative Technologies at UWE Bristol has around 150 academic staff and over 2,500 undergraduate and postgraduate students. Our state-of-the-art programmes cover a wide range of computing disciplines, and we also support a growing and successful body of research.

We currently offer undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Artificial Intelligence and Computing including top-up degree programmes delivered through on campus, online, and Transnational Education (TNE) provision. Our programmes cover contemporary areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, and intelligent systems, supported by active research and PhD supervision in these fields.

About You

We are seeking a Lecturer in Artificial Intelligence who will contribute to the delivery and development of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in AI and Computing. Candidates should have a PhD in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science or a closely related discipline, or substantial professional/industry experience that is equivalent. Knowledge and expertise in one or more areas relevant to Artificial Intelligence and Computing is essential, including but not limited to:

  • Machine Learning (ML)
  • Agentic AI
  • Metaheuristic optimisation
  • Modern approaches to predictive modelling
  • Autonomous intelligent agents
  • Reasoning
  • Planning
  • Optimisation techniques applied to complex real-world problems

The primary focus of this role will be teaching and the development of innovative teaching practice within the field of Artificial Intelligence. The post-holder will contribute to the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in AI and Computing, supervise student projects and dissertations, and support students in developing the technical, analytical, and innovation skills required for future AI-enabled industries. The role will also contribute to the development and delivery of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities, industry-focused training, knowledge exchange initiatives, and engagement with external partners. The post-holder will be encouraged and supported in developing their research, scholarly, and professional practice activities, contributing to the advancement of Artificial Intelligence and its applications across academic and industry contexts.

This is a full-time, permanent post.
