Hugh Baird College is seeking two committed Electrical Installation Lecturers to join our Building Services team. These roles are essential to supporting our learners and curriculum for the new academic year.
We are looking for candidates who bring strong trade expertise and the ability to deliver high-quality teaching and assessment.
While we welcome applicants transitioning from industry, at least one of these appointments must have prior teaching or training experience due to curriculum needs.
About the Role
As a Lecturer in Electrical Installation, you will deliver high-quality teaching across Levels 1-3 to:
- 16-18 learners
- Adult students
- Apprentices
Your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering engaging lessons
- Assessing and supporting learners to achieve their goals
- Providing constructive feedback
- Maintaining accurate course records
- Contributing to curriculum development and quality improvement
You’ll join a supportive, experienced team committed to developing the next generation of electricians.

Who We’re Looking For
Experienced FE lecturers
Electrical trainers/assessors
Industry professionals with proven experience delivering training, mentoring apprentices, or supervising learners
Off-the-tools candidates with some teaching exposure and readiness to step into a structured teaching role
Essential Requirements
To be considered, you must have:
- Level 3 (or higher) qualification in Electrical Installation or equivalent
- Recent and relevant industry experience
- Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one
- Ability to motivate, support and challenge learners
- Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable Requirements
- Experience teaching in FE or private training environments
- Assessor/IQA qualifications
- Knowledge of awarding body requirements
- Experience delivering apprenticeships or workplace training
