As one of the fastest-growing Colleges in the UK, Weston College is excited to be opening the brand-new Advanced Manufacturing Technical Excellence College (AMTEC) in Filton, Bristol, which will welcome its first learners in September 2026.
Lecturer in Engineering - Fabrication
We are looking for a Lecturer in Engineering - Fabrication to join the team at AMTEC, working on a part-time basis (21 hours per week). (The proposed working pattern from September 2026: Wednesday 8.5 hours, Thursday 8.5 hours, Friday 4 hours. Please note that this may be subject to change in line with curriculum requirements)
As a Lecturer in Engineering, specialising in Fabrication, you will join the Engineering Faculty and play a key role in delivering high-quality technical education across full-time, apprenticeship and commercial engineering programmes.
Drawing upon your industry experience and qualifications, you will develop learners' technical competence, safe working practices and employability skills, preparing them for careers within advanced manufacturing and engineering industries.

We will support you to train, qualify and grow as a Lecturer, so previous teaching experience is not a requirement.
Duties
- Delivering high quality instruction in aerospace fabrication, fitting and assembly in both practical and theory sessions.
- Train learners and develop their confidence in precision fitting techniques, including marking out, cutting, drilling, reaming, countersinking, threading, deburring and finishing to aerospace standards.
- Ensure compliance with workshop health and safety procedures, including risk assessments, manual handling and safe systems of work in line with PUWER, COSHH and College procedures.
- Assess learner competence through practical observation, professional discussion and portfolio evidence, providing timely and constructive feedback.
Required skills and qualifications
- Significant industry experience within Fabrication
- Experience and competency in the following areas:
- Mechanical and Aerospace fitting, assembly and fabrication.
- Interpretation of engineering drawings, technical specifications and manufacturing documentation.
- Assembly, installation, inspection and quality assurance.
- Engineering workshop practices.
- Technical instruction, assessment and skills development.
- Knowledge of PUWER, COSHH and Safe Systems of Work.
- Relevant Engineering qualification at a minimum of Level 3
