The Role
The post-holder will contribute to the delivery and assessment of practical engineering qualifications, particularly focusing on workshop-based learning. This role is essential in supporting the increased curriculum hours within the Engineering department.
The successful candidate will support learners in achieving academic success and developing industry-ready skills, particularly through high-quality, practical sessions delivered in the engineering workshop.
Main Duties for this role include:
- To plan teaching, learning and assessment for college programmes across a range of levels using the appropriate college format to ensure effective learning.
- To deliver teaching and learning to at least a consistently good or outstanding standard to achieve high success rates.
- To assess accurately learners' work both formatively and summatively against appropriate awarding body criteria to ensure learners achieve their qualifications.
- To comply with all college quality assurance procedures as prescribed by the Deputy Principal to ensure the achievement of all internal and external audits.
- To liaise with external agencies, including validating bodies, employers and placement providers.
- To thoroughly prepare suitable teaching, learning and assessment materials for a range of courses/classes and make use of a variety and appropriate learning and teaching methods.
- To have available an up-to-date syllabus and scheme of work (showing methods of delivery and embedded cross-cutting themes) for each course/class taught.

Successful applicants should have:
- A Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent
- Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards one
- Relevant practical industry experience in operating lathes, milling machines, and CNC machining equipment
- A Maths qualification equivalent to Level 3 would be desirable
- An Assessors award would also be desirable
