We have a new opportunity to join our busy Nursing provision in the School of Health and Sport at Southampton Solent University.

We are looking for an NMC Registered Children's (Paediatric) Nurse to join our academic team to deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment to our students and apprentices who are studying at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The role involves developing and delivering lectures, seminars, workshops, and practical learning activities, while supporting students in developing the knowledge, skills, and professional values required for a career in Nursing. We would like you to work across all our provision which includes Mental Health Nursing, Adult Nursing, Nursing Associates, Assistant Practitioners and our Health Play Provision.

The key responsibilities include designing and updating teaching materials, assessing, marking and providing feedforward on student work. Supporting our students development and progression is a key part of the role, and we welcome your contribution to curriculum development, whilst maintaining your current practical knowledge of Nursing legislation, policy, and professional standards when working with children and families. You will have the opportunity to contribute to current research, professional practice, academic administration, and help to develop partnerships which will assist our students to gain real world experience.

The role requires an individual with enthusiasm, effective communication skills, teaching experience and strong interpersonal skills, together with relevant professional experience and current knowledge of the NMC Future Nurse: Standards of Proficiency for Registered Nurses Framework.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Current NMC Registration - Children's/Paediatric Nursing
  • Strong communication and teaching skills preferably with an established academic background.
  • A commitment to inclusive and student-centred education.
  • Experience of supporting learners in higher education
  • Experience of "Health Play" Specialism would be welcome
  • PGCE/PGcert in Practice Education/Higher Education is desirable but not essential
