About The Faculty
The Faculty of Science and Engineering at Manchester Metropolitan University is dedicated to advancing sports science, engineering, computing, life and natural sciences through world-class research, education, and industry partnerships. The Faculty is home to four specialist schools and supports both undergraduate and postgraduate education in a state-of-the-art new building and a growing research environment.

About The Role & Team
You will be a passionate academic with an excellent and accelerating profile in educational innovation and applied sport and exercise psychology to join the School as a Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Psychology.
Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the delivery of high-quality teaching in Sport and Exercise Psychology across our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, combining academic excellence with applied practice to prepare students for careers in sport and exercise psychology.
- Lead psychology delivery on our flagship BSc Sport and Exercise Science and contribute to the continued development of our successful MSc Sport and Exercise Psychology, supporting curriculum development, educational innovation and the delivery of engaging theoretical and practical teaching.
- Support the continued development, coordination and quality assurance of placement and applied learning opportunities, working closely with sport, exercise, health and wellbeing organisations to provide high-quality practice-based experiences for our students.
- Contribute to the continued growth of our external partnerships, ensuring our teaching reflects contemporary professional practice and supports graduate employability.
- Play an active role in maintaining and developing our British Psychological Society (BPS) accredited provision and contribute to wider School initiatives that enhance the student experience, student success and the continued growth and reputation of Sport and Exercise Psychology within the School.

Key Skills & Experiences
- Hold a PhD in Sport and Exercise Psychology, Sport Science, Psychology or a closely related discipline.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist and/or Chartered Membership of the British Psychological Society (BPS), or the ability to achieve professional registration, is essential.
- Bring experience of applied sport and/or exercise psychology practice, with a strong understanding of contemporary theory, evidence and professional practice across sport, exercise and wellbeing settings.
- Have experience of delivering high-quality teaching in higher education, or substantial professional experience that can be translated into an outstanding student learning experience.
- Experience of supporting work-based learning, placements, employer engagement or partnerships with sporting, healthcare or community organisations would be advantageous.
- Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), or a commitment to achieving this within two years of appointment, is essential.
- Be committed to inclusive, research-informed teaching and to supporting students' academic, professional and personal development.
- Be a collaborative and student-focused academic with the enthusiasm to inspire future sport and exercise psychologists and contribute positively to the continued success and growth of the School.

Application & Assessment Process

The assessment process will take place in two stages. In the first stage, candidates will be required to deliver a 10-minute interactive, classroom-style presentation using slides within their subject area, and submit a 10-minute pre-recorded presentation showcasing their educational innovation. Candidates who successfully progress to the second stage will be invited to attend an interview with the Faculty Pro-Vice-Chancellor.
