The faculty of Design, Informatics and Business seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Visual Effects.

We are seeking an experienced VFX practitioner or technical artist to join Abertay as Lecturer in Visual Effects. We are particularly interested in candidates considering a move from industry into Higher Education. You will bring professional experience of VFX pipelines, compositing and shot development, in at least one of, film, television, games, or live and immersive production. Professional experience must be supported by a strong portfolio or breakdown reel. Expertise may include compositing in software such as Nuke, real-time VFX, virtual production, game-engine workflows, or the development and customisation of production tools.

You will contribute to teaching and curriculum development on our BSc Visual Effects and MSc Technical Art programmes, helping students develop the creative, technical and production skills required by industry. You will also have opportunities to build research, knowledge-exchange and professional-practice activity through Abertay’s specialist facilities and its involvement in CoSTAR and LIPF. This involves working with academic and industry partners to explore emerging approaches to real-time and advanced production in Creative Industries and beyond. Abertay University/CoSTAR has previously engaged with VFX studios, suppliers and practitioners from studios such as ILM, Pixomondo, Halon Entertainment, Crescent Inc (Tokyo), VSS (Video Screen Services), Vicon, Epic Games, SideFX, 4J Studios and many more.
