Employment Type: Part time (17.5 hours per week)
Duration: Continuing opportunity
Remuneration: Level B from $133k plus clinical loading, 17% superannuation contribution and annual leave loading (pro rata)
Location: UNSW Kensington Campus, Sydney
Working rights: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. Candidates must hold full rights to work in Australia to be considered for this position.

Details of the role

UNSW’s Education Focused roles (EF) enable academics to specialise in education and devote their time to delivering high-quality teaching and pursuing initiatives to enhance the educational experience of our students. Those who are appointed to this prestigious specialism will be expected to successfully drive educational excellence within the university’s teaching and learning communities.

The Lecturer - Nutrition & Dietetics will make a significant contribution to the development and delivery of education in the Nutrition, Dietetics and Food Innovation program with a focus on the clinical stream of the program.

This is an exciting opportunity for an educator and clinician to shape the learning experience of future nutrition and dietetics professionals. Working across the clinical stream, work-integrated learning content and placement program, you will contribute to innovative teaching, curriculum development and student success. The role suits someone who is passionate about educational excellence, committed to evidence-based practice and eager to support students in achieving strong academic, professional and employability outcomes. You will collaborate with colleagues across the discipline, bring current clinical and industry knowledge into the classroom, and contribute to a dynamic learning environment that prepares graduates for professional practice.

The role of Lecturer reports to the Discipline Lead in their discipline, and has no direct reports.

Some Key Skills Required

  • Accredited Practicing Dietitian (APD) or eligibility and willingness to seek accreditation as an APD
  • A PhD in Nutrition and Dietetics or other related health / medical disciplines is preferred although significant and relevant experience will be considered in lieu of PhD
  • Demonstrated experience with industry and work-integrated learning and clinical education
  • Demonstrated clinical experience
  • Actively stays up to date with discipline knowledge and professional development
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development and delivery at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level
  • Experience using and/or designing with educational technologies and online delivery methods
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence (e.g. relevant discipline-based curriculum design and development at a variety of levels and scales)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of industry or experience of work-integrated learning (desirable)
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Evidence of ability to support and inspire students from diverse backgrounds and support student equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
