Are you passionate about computing, digital technologies, and developing the next generation of digital professionals? If you are, we are looking for a dedicated and knowledgeable Computing Lecturer to join our dynamic Digital Industries team at our Bede Campus.
This role offers the opportunity to teach across our T Level Digital programmes, including Digital Support Services and Software Development, supporting students to develop the technical knowledge, practical skills, and professional behaviours required to progress into employment or higher-level study. You will work within a modern, industry-focused learning environment, helping to prepare the digital workforce of the future.
About The College
Sunderland College has been delivering highly successful courses for more than 20 years and is one of the largest providers of post-16 education in the North East with approximately 14,300 students.
The College has two campuses across the city of Sunderland, offering a wide range of academic and vocational provision for school leavers and adults. About The Role

While not tied to a single project, the role plays a key part in the strategic development and delivery of our computing programmes, with scope to innovate in areas such as AI, cybersecurity, data science, and software engineering.

Role Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, delivery, and continuous improvement of high-quality computing programmes, ensuring curriculum relevance, industry alignment, and excellent learning experiences.
- Provide strong academic and pastoral support to students, including those with EHCPs or ALS needs, and actively support progression to higher education or employment.
- Embrace and implement digital learning technologies to enhance teaching, assessment, and student engagement, while sharing best practices across the team.
- Monitor and support student performance, attendance, and behaviour; contribute to interviews, inductions, parental engagement, and safeguarding procedures.
- Oversee quality assurance processes, including curriculum reviews, assessment preparation, and compliance with awarding body and college standards.
- Collaborate with colleagues to manage course documentation, maintain accurate records on college platforms (e.g. SharePoint), and contribute to a culture of celebration and excellence.

- Appropriate degree or equivalent/relevant vocational qualification or commitment to work towards.
- Teacher qualification or commitment to work towards.
- Assessor Awards or commitment to work towards within the first year.
- Level 2 English and maths qualification.
- Up to date Continuous Professional Development.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Successful experience of delivering high-quality provision.
- Evidence of supporting curriculum development.
- Evidence of collecting and acting upon data analysis.
- Experience of implementing a range of delivery methods to suit a variety of learning needs.
- Appropriate academic/vocational experience.
- Experience of internal quality assurance.
- Initial assessment processes and its relationship to target setting, planning for learning, and student progress.
