Barking & Dagenham College are recruiting for a Protective Services Lecturer to join our team on a full-time (36 hours per week) permanent basis.
The salary scale for this role is £26,514 - £46,307 per annum, inclusive of London Weighting, depending on qualifications and experience.
The Role
Our Protective Services Lecturer will be based at our accessible Rush Green Campus, and will be preparing young people and adults across the Protective Services Department to progress into employment, the next level of a qualification, or Higher Education Institutes.
You'll provide inspiration, skill, and practical experience to students across our department's courses. You'll also contribute to the development of our course offer, building on our innovative provision.
Key Responsibilities of a Protective Services Lecturer
- Teaching: You will demonstrate excellent practitioner skills and competencies. Be able to develop lessons to meet the requirements of our Teaching, Learning and Assessment framework, enhance the learner experience, and support learners to self-actualize their true potential
- Delivering Theory-Based and Practical-Based Specialist Units: Including hierarchy and routine (drill), telecommunications, emergency planning, outdoor activity skills, map reading, crime scene investigation, war and conflict careers, and fitness
- Quality Assurance: Experience in internal and external quality assurance processes e.g., including writing assignment briefs, marking learner work against assessment criteria, internal verification, and working with awarding bodies such as BTEC and/or NCFE
- Use of Learning Platforms: Use of digital platforms including Google Classroom or similar virtual learning environments to support schedule hand out/hand in of assignment briefs, uploading, and allocating worksheets to the learners to support their learning
- Supporting Higher-Level Grades: Evidence of planning and teaching strategies to help learners achieve higher grades and exceed their initial target grades
- Participate in Outdoor Learning, Hikes, and Residential Trips: To support the development of essential knowledge, skills, and behaviors of young people
- Highly Organized and Professional: Evidence of organization of workload to ensure deadlines are achieved for marking, feedback to learners, administration e.g., completion of progress reviews, and quality assurance activities
- Maintain: You will be keen to maintain your own levels of fitness and be able to role model a positive lifestyle in order to deliver units needed for courses

Our Ideal Candidate
Our ideal candidate will hold the following qualifications, skills, and experience;
- Hold a teaching qualification and have experience of teaching in the Further or Higher Education sectors
OR
- Have a level 3 qualification in the subject relevant to the course you will be delivering, and be prepared to undertake a Further Education teaching qualification with our support, as part of our Passport to Teaching programme
OR
- Have significant Service Industries industry experience, and be qualified to level 3 in the subject and be prepared to undertake a Further Education teaching qualification with our support, as part of our Passport to Teaching programme
All applicants should have good administrative skills and be able to accurately track students' attendance, progress, and achievements.
