About the Role

We have a new opportunity to join our Academic Psychology colleagues in the School of Health and Sport at Southampton Solent University.

We are looking for a Psychologist with Counselling skills to a minimum of Level 4 to join our academic team to deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and assessment to our students who are studying at undergraduate and postgraduate level. The role involves developing and delivering lectures, seminars, workshops, and practical learning activities, while supporting students in developing the knowledge, skills, and professional values required for a career in counselling practice.

The key responsibilities include designing and updating teaching materials, assessing, marking and providing feedforward on student work. Supporting our students development and progression is a key part of the role, and we welcome your contribution to curriculum development, whilst maintaining your current practical knowledge of counselling legislation, policy, and professional standards. You will have the opportunity to contribute to current research, professional practice, academic administration, and help to develop partnerships which will assist our students to gain experience of real world learning.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
