South Hampshire College Group is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and student-focused Lecturer in Science (Chemistry) to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire learners, deliver outstanding teaching, and help students achieve their full potential in Chemistry.

As a Chemistry Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching and learning, supporting learners both academically and pastorally, and contributing to the continued success of our curriculum provision.

This role is part time, working 6 teaching hours per week, comprising 3 hours on Monday and 3 hours on Tuesday.

Duties

  • Deliver engaging and inspiring Chemistry lessons that support outstanding learner outcomes.
  • Plan, prepare, assess, and evaluate learning activities across a range of programmes.
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to support achievement and progression.
  • Act as a Personal Tutor, providing pastoral support and guidance to students.
  • Develop student-centred learning programmes that meet individual needs.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, achievement, and student progress.
  • Support enrichment activities, open events, parents' evenings, and school liaison initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to create an inclusive and stimulating learning environment.
  • Participate in professional development activities to maintain and enhance subject expertise.

Experience

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a degree or equivalent qualification in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline.
  • Has experience of teaching or training Chemistry, ideally within Further Education, Secondary Education, or a related setting.
  • Is passionate about helping learners achieve their ambitions.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Has strong classroom management and assessment skills.
  • Is committed to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Works effectively as part of a collaborative team.
  • Holds, or is willing to work towards, a recognised teaching qualification.
