About the Role
The Human Resource Management team at Edinburgh Napier University is well-known for its approach to practice-based learning and research around the theme of 'maximising human potential', which focuses on well-being, diversity, talent and leadership development and performance improvement.
The subject area delivers HRM programmes at Degree and Masters Levels and runs programmes on-campus, overseas and online, also running bespoke part-time programmes with commercial partners.
Currently, we are recruiting two fixed-term Lecturers in Human Resource Management for periods of 6 and 12 months, to support some of the largest student recruiting programmes in the business school including MBA suite, MSc Business Management suite and MSc HRM and International HRM programmes.
The Roles
The two roles are an excellent opportunity for an Academic to join a busy HRM department in the areas of teaching, module and programme leadership and research.
- You will be given the remit to deliver across our suite of HRM programmes (on campus, online, offshore and commercial) at all academic levels, including our Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) accredited MSc HRM, MSc International HRM, MSc HRM with AI and our MBA.
- You will also be in an excellent position to use your experience to supervise student research projects at all levels and take on a programme leadership role, including preparation and delivery of lectures and tutorials, supervision of student projects and dissertations, and the design of research projects and securing research funding.
- Furthermore, you will have the remit to conduct individual and collaborative research projects, leading to the production of high-quality research outputs and you will be supported to publish in HRM discipline/ pedagogy journals.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
