Job Description
The College of Health and Society invites applications for a 1FTE Senior Lecturer / Lecturer in Occupational Therapy to join our expanding Occupational Therapy team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the delivery, leadership and continued enhancement of our BSc (Hons) Occupational Therapy programmes, including the Direct Entry, Degree Apprenticeship and Foundation Year pathways. You will play a key role in supporting the continued growth of the programmes and helping shape the future of occupational therapy education at Buckinghamshire New University.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy, academic colleagues and a wide range of practice partners to design, develop and deliver high-quality clinical and theoretical teaching that promotes student engagement, achievement and an outstanding learning experience. You will contribute to module leadership and delivery, assessment and feedback, personal tutoring, simulation-based learning, curriculum development, programme enhancement and quality assurance, ensuring students are well prepared for contemporary occupational therapy practice.
The role also includes supporting the development, coordination and quality assurance of practice placements, working closely with employers, apprenticeship partners and practice educators to develop and maintain high-quality placement opportunities across a range of health, social care, education, voluntary and independent sector settings.
Requirements
Applicants should have current HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist (or have commenced the HCPC registration process if applying internationally), together with up-to-date knowledge of contemporary occupational therapy practice. You will demonstrate excellent communication, organisational and collaborative working skills, with the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and evolving higher education environment. Experience of teaching in higher education or a comparable educational setting is desirable. Applicants must hold current HCPC registration as an Occupational Therapist or, where applying from overseas, have already commenced the HCPC registration process and be eligible to practise in the UK before taking up the post. Evidence of HCPC registration, or progress towards registration, will be required prior to appointment.
