Legal Accounts Assistant
Location: Bath area
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £32,000 - £36,000 depending on experience
We are seeking a dedicated Legal Accounts Assistant to join our team in Bath. This role is crucial for maintaining the efficient operation of our Accounts Department, ensuring compliance with the Solicitors Account Rules, and supporting the firm's development in line with our business plan.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Execute cashiering duties in accordance with office procedures and the Solicitors Account Rules.
- Operate and maintain the accounts system for both office and client accounts.
- Handle the receipt and dispatch of monies, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately in the firm’s accounting system.
- Complete daily banking and maintain the petty cash book.
- Process payment of authorised invoices/accounts payable.
- Liaise with the firm’s accountants on procedural and rules compliance.
- Manage monthly bank reconciliations, month-end reports, and assist with quarterly VAT returns and the year-end audit.
- Provide support to other members of the Accounts Department and perform general office duties as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
- AAT Level 3 qualification is preferred.
- Solid accounting experience, including a thorough knowledge of the Solicitors Account Rules.
- Strong commercial acumen and numeracy skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively liaise with staff and clients.
- Ability to work effectively within a team and independently.
- Strong organisational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
