Location: London
Salary: £40,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time – 37.5 hours per week
Cromwood Housing Group is looking for a proactive, highly organised and capable Legal & Executive Support Officer to join our team.
This is a varied role providing legal, compliance and governance support to our Legal Services Manager, alongside wider management support to members of our senior team.
The successful candidate will take ownership of a range of key processes, including complaints handling, data protection matters, compliance monitoring, contract and policy management, accident and incident reporting and litigation administration. You will work closely with teams across the organisation as well as external solicitors, insurers, local authorities and other professional partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing day-to-day legal and administrative support across housing, property, corporate and compliance matters.
- Drafting routine legal correspondence, notices and internal documentation.
- Maintaining legal files, records and the Group’s litigation register.
- Monitoring court deadlines and liaising with external solicitors, barristers and insurers.
- Managing Subject Access Requests and supporting the management of data breaches and other UK GDPR requirements.
- Managing and coordinating Stage 1 and Stage 2 complaints in line with the Housing Ombudsman’s Complaint Handling Code.
- Supporting internal compliance audits and maintaining key compliance registers and deadlines.
- Managing the Group’s central contracts register and monitoring renewals, expiry dates and contractual obligations.
- Supporting the drafting, review and maintenance of organisational policies and procedures.
- Preparing reports, briefing papers, presentations, meeting minutes and management information.
- Providing administrative and management support to senior members of the organisation.
- Supporting governance, insurance and company secretarial activities.

About You
We’re looking for someone who is confident working independently, can manage competing priorities and is comfortable handling sensitive and confidential information.

You should have previous experience within a legal, paralegal, compliance or governance role, together with strong written communication, organisation and attention to detail. Working knowledge of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, including Subject Access Requests and data breach handling, is also essential.
Experience within housing, social housing or property, knowledge of housing law, CILEx or other relevant legal/compliance qualifications, and familiarity with the Housing Ombudsman, RIDDOR or CQC frameworks would be advantageous, but are not essential.
