Board Intelligence is a technology and advisory firm on a mission to make boards more effective, and through them, build better businesses and benefit society.
Over twenty years we have established ourselves as the market leader in governance and board effectiveness, trusted by more than 80,000 directors, executives, and governance professionals globally, including across the Fortune 500, FTSE 100, and OMX 30. That trust has been earned through depth of insight, rigorous advisory work, and a track record that newer entrants simply cannot replicate.
We have invested in applied AI since 2020, well ahead of the market, and that early conviction has paid off. Our AI-powered platform and smart board advisor give us a competitive advantage that is widening, not narrowing. In 2024, K1 Investment Management, the leading B2B Enterprise SaaS investor, backed us to accelerate that position further. We are now growing fast, with a proven commercial model spanning both mid-market and enterprise, and a product suite that has become a necessary addition in high-stakes board environments.
The people joining us now will shape how we scale. We are deliberate about how we do that. Our founders and leadership team are deeply invested in keeping the culture that got us here: thoughtful, high calibre, and genuinely human. Ambition and balance are not in competition at Board Intelligence.
If you want to work at the intersection of AI and governance, on problems that matter at the highest level, this is a strong place to be.
Our Mission
We unleash the potential of organisations through the science of board effectiveness, building better businesses and benefitting society.
Role Description
We are looking for an ambitious Legal & Operations Executive to join the next evolution of the Board Intelligence Legal Team. This is a blended role that combines hands-on commercial paralegal work with legal operations build. The successful applicant will be designing the processes, playbooks and platforms that let the function scale as BI grows globally.
This role reflects how in-house legal is now practised: law and operations as one discipline, not two.
Reporting to the Legal Director, this role partners with Sales, Finance, Operations, Product and regional stakeholders to support BI’s commercial activity and core BAU. You will help triage and progress sell-side and procurement work under supervision, reduce friction, improve speed to signature, and critically own the underlying processes, templates and tooling that make consistent risk decisions possible as we scale across upsells/expansions, net-new enterprise procurement, and entry into new markets.
We are hiring primarily for potential, commercial instinct and a builder’s mindset. You will already have meaningful paralegal experience and a clear ambition to continually develop your practice. If you’re ready to step beyond task execution into building how an in-house legal function actually runs, this is the role for you.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Main Responsibilities
- Commercial contracting support (buy-side and sell-side), including first-draft NDAs, order forms, amendments and supplier agreements
- Core BAU legal support across all BI trading entities
- Company secretarial support, including assisting with governance processes, entity maintenance, approvals, and coordination with external providers as needed
- Assisting the Legal Director on higher-complexity or higher-value arrangements, coordinating stakeholder input, tracking internal approvals, and managing the execution workflow
- Supporting regulatory documentation, including Data Processing Agreements (DPAs), AI schedules and other privacy/security addenda as required
- Act as the key contact when it comes to contract lifecycle and obligation management, supporting tracking, post-signature compliance and operationalisation of key obligations
- Provide sell-side commercial support by helping keep deals moving, apply the team’s standard positions and fallbacks from the playbook, and escalate non-standard asks with options
- Sell-side and procurement diligence support, including responding to enterprise procurement processes and coordinating inputs across security, privacy, finance and operations
- Data privacy and digital regulatory enablement by helping to embed consistent positions and workable processes that support scaling across regions
- Post-M&A integration delivery, including contract novations/assignments, harmonisation of templates and processes, and issue triage
- Legal operations (a core part of the role): own day-to-day development of templates, playbooks and clause libraries; help select, implement and administer CLM and adjacent legal tech (e-signature, intake, AI-assisted review); design intake/triage workflows; and build the reporting that lets us run the function on data
- Ad-hoc legal support for cross-functional initiatives as required
What we’re looking for
We are looking for an experienced in-house paralegal (or equivalent) with strong commercial contracting exposure and a genuine interest in legal operations someone comfortable in a scaling, global SaaS/technology environment ready for their next challenge.
Required Experience:
- Hands-on experience drafting commercial contracts (e.g. NDAs, order forms, supplier agreements) and supporting negotiations in a fast-paced environment, ideally SaaS/technology
- Confidence partnering with senior business stakeholders across functions and geographies, including supporting Sales on upsells/renewals and enterprise procurement cycles
- Real enthusiasm for legal tech and AI enablement, with evidence of self-starting adoption e.g. CLM, contract automation, playbooks/knowledge bases, e-signature, AI-assisted drafting/review. You don’t need to have built these at scale, but you should have opinions about how they should work and ideas for how to make them better
- Ability to take initiative and surface options (not just raise issues), with a developing sense of how to balance commercial outcomes against risk
- A practical, commercial mindset and comfort working with ambiguity during transition/change
- Meaningful in-house or private practice paralegal experience (typically 3+ years).
- The above is indicative; we welcome applications from candidates at slightly earlier or later stages where the experience is compelling.

Practical experience:
- Drafting commercial agreements and supporting negotiations, in-house and/or in private practice
- Familiarity with a range of commercial agreements (e.g. NDAs, order forms, supplier contracts, with exposure to MSAs); multi-jurisdiction exposure is a plus, not a requirement
- Exposure to working with Sales or commercial teams in a high-volume or scaling environment
- Evidence of taking ownership beyond pure task execution — e.g. improving a template, building a tracker, owning an intake process, or running a small piece of legal ops work end-to-end
Nice to haves:
- Hands-on exposure to CLM systems and broader legal tech; comfortable standardising workflows, building templates/playbooks, and an interest in enabling AI-assisted contracting at scale
- Exposure to SaaS, technology, or AI-enabled products
- Experience supporting enterprise deals, including negotiating customer/third-party paper and coordinating security, privacy, and procurement requirements
- Familiarity with data protection concepts (e.g. DPAs) and cross-border considerations
- Experience improving templates, processes, governance, or ways of working across multiple teams
