Legal Apprenticeship Tutor

Location: Remote

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic and learner-focused Legal Apprenticeship Tutor to join our growing team.

Working across Level 3 to Level 7 Legal Apprenticeship programmes, including Solicitor Apprentices preparing for SQE assessments, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional teaching, coaching and learner support. You will work collaboratively with apprentices, employers and colleagues to ensure learners develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to thrive in the legal profession and achieve both their apprenticeship and professional qualification goals.

Key Responsibilities

Curriculum Delivery and Teaching

  • Design, develop and maintain curriculum content aligned to Level 3 to Level 7 Professional Legal Apprenticeship Standards.
  • Deliver engaging virtual teaching sessions, workshops and micro-teaches that embed legal knowledge and professional competencies.
  • Support Solicitor Apprentices preparing for SQE assessments through effective teaching, coaching and skills development.
  • Create and update learning resources, assessment materials and mock assessments in line with legal, regulatory and apprenticeship developments.
  • Utilise digital learning technologies and innovative teaching approaches to maximise learner engagement, achievement and progression.
  • Deliver up to 20 hours of scheduled group teaching per week, alongside additional learner-facing activities as required.

Learner Support and Coaching

  • Provide personalised one-to-one and group support throughout the apprenticeship journey.
  • Support learners in evidencing Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSBs) and developing high-quality apprenticeship portfolios.
  • Guide apprentices through Gateway preparation and End-Point Assessment (EPA) requirements.
  • Deliver timely, constructive feedback and implement targeted interventions to support learner success.
  • Support learners preparing for professional qualification assessments, including SQE pathways.
  • Promote learner wellbeing and ensure safeguarding and Prevent requirements are effectively embedded and supported.

Quality and Compliance

  • Contribute to quality assurance activities, including teaching observations, standardisation and Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) processes.
  • Monitor learner progress, achievement, SQE outcomes and programme KPIs to drive continuous improvement.
  • Support the implementation of Quality Improvement Plans (QIPs) and maintain compliance with Ofsted and Department for Education requirements.
  • Assist with audits, evidence gathering and inspection readiness activities.

Employer and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, workplace mentors and key stakeholders.
  • Provide employers with meaningful learner progress updates and guidance on apprenticeship responsibilities and requirements.
  • Liaise effectively with awarding organisations, End-Point Assessment Organisations (EPAOs) and professional assessment bodies.
  • Collaborate across curriculum, quality and learner support teams to ensure a consistent and high-quality learner experience.

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to the ongoing development of teaching strategies, schemes of work and assessment practices.
  • Participate actively in team meetings, standardisation activities and quality initiatives, sharing best practice and learner insights.
  • Support the continued growth and enhancement of the apprenticeship provision.
  • Maintain current knowledge of legal practice, legal education, apprenticeship reforms and teaching methodologies through ongoing CPD.

About You

Essential

  • Experience delivering, coaching or supporting learners within legal education, apprenticeships or professional development programmes.
  • A strong understanding of the legal sector and professional legal practice.
  • Excellent coaching, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to motivate, inspire and support learners to achieve their goals.
  • Strong organisational, planning and time-management skills.
  • Confidence using digital learning platforms and educational technologies.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.

Desirable

  • Experience working within legal apprenticeship programmes.
  • Experience supporting learners through Gateway and End-Point Assessment (EPA).
  • Knowledge of Ofsted expectations and apprenticeship quality frameworks.
  • Experience working closely with employers and workplace mentors.
  • Familiarity with Solicitor Apprenticeships and the SQE qualification pathway.
  • A teaching, training or assessing qualification.
