At JNP Legal, we are continuing to grow and are looking for a motivated, organised and detail-focused Care Legal Assistant to join our expanding Care Department.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career within the legal profession. Whether you already have experience working within a law firm, are a recent law graduate, or simply have the right attitude and desire to learn, we would love to hear from you.

Working alongside experienced solicitors and fee earners, you will play a vital role in supporting care proceedings, helping to prepare cases, review disclosure, and ensure families receive the highest standard of legal representation during what can often be challenging and life-changing situations.

The Role

As a Care Legal Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting our solicitors and fee earners by assisting with the preparation and management of care cases.

A significant part of the role will involve reviewing and analysing disclosure, preparing chronologies, maintaining case records and ensuring matters progress efficiently through the legal process.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing and analysing disclosure and documentation received within care proceedings.
  • Preparing detailed chronologies and summaries of key evidence.
  • Supporting solicitors and fee earners with case preparation and administration including Legal Aid funding applications.
  • Maintaining accurate records on the firm's case management systems.
  • Assisting with applications, court documents and legal forms and case billing.
  • Managing task lists and key dates to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Handling routine client enquiries in a professional and compassionate manner.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
  • Liaising with internal departments to ensure seamless client service.
  • Undertaking delegated legal work under supervision where appropriate.
  • Helping to deliver an exceptional client experience at every stage of the matter.

  • Comfortable working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • An excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • A strong team player who enjoys working collaboratively.
  • Proactive, dependable and capable of working on their own initiative.
  • Passionate about delivering outstanding service and achieving high standards.
  • Fully computer literate, including Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable Experience

The following would be advantageous but is not essential:

  • Previous experience working within a law firm.
  • Experience supporting solicitors or legal teams.
  • A Law Degree or other legal qualification.
  • Experience reviewing large volumes of documentation.
  • Knowledge of Care Proceedings or Family Law.
