Are you looking to build your legal career within a highly regarded claimant law firm? We're looking for a proactive and organised Legal Assistant to join our Fast Track Road Traffic Accident (RTA) team, supporting the management of a portfolio of Small Claims Track (SCT) personal injury matters.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking hands-on experience within claimant litigation. You'll gain exposure to the full lifecycle of personal injury claims, from initial instruction through to settlement, while working alongside experienced legal professionals in a supportive and collaborative team environment.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Legal Assistant, you'll manage a small caseload of Small Claims Track matters while supporting the administration and closure of a legacy portfolio of settled claims. You'll play a key role in ensuring cases are progressed efficiently, clients receive excellent service, and legal processes are followed accurately.
You'll have the opportunity to develop your legal knowledge, build your case management skills, and gain valuable experience in claimant personal injury litigation.

Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of Small Claims Track RTA cases from allocation through to settlement.
- Assess liability, quantify losses and value injuries in accordance with the SCT tariff framework.
- Prepare and issue court proceedings where required.
- Comply with court directions and assist with hearing preparation.
- Manage settlement and post-settlement activities, including file closure and ledger clearance.
- Review case management ledgers, process write-offs and complete file housekeeping activities.
- Liaise with clients, insurers, third parties and other stakeholders regarding case progression.
- Support the recovery and management of disbursements on settled matters.
- Draft correspondence, attendance notes and internal legal documents.
- Conduct legal research as required.
- Support Fast Track fee earners with administrative and legal assistant duties during periods of absence.
- Process incoming and outgoing post, ensuring documentation is saved and actioned promptly.
- Assist with billing, financial administration and debtor management activities.
- Ensure all files are maintained accurately and in accordance with firm procedures and regulatory requirements.

What We're Looking For
- Previous administrative or legal assistant experience, ideally within a legal environment.
- Knowledge of the Small Claims Track process and civil court procedures.
- An interest in claimant personal injury litigation or civil litigation.
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive and collaborative approach to work.
- Confidence using case management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- The ability to work independently while also contributing effectively within a team.
- A Law degree, LPC, SQE studies or equivalent legal qualification is desirable.
