Reporting To: Head of Legal & Compliance
Location: Bournemouth, Hybrid or Remote. We work in a flexible, hybrid way and there are no fixed days in the office.
Job Type: Full Time 37.5 hours a week

The Team & Role
As a Legal Associate at Nourish, you will sit at the centre of a fast moving SaaS business, working hands on with commercial contracts and data protection to keep deals moving at pace. This is an individual contributor role reporting into the Head of Legal & Compliance, and it suits someone who wants to own routine negotiations from first draft through to signature rather than support someone else's transactions.

You will be a trusted partner to teams including Sales, Customer Success, Partnerships, Finance and Operations, dealing directly with internal stakeholders and counterparties on customer contracts, supplier agreements, partner and reseller agreements, NDAs and contractor agreements. Strong commercial judgement matters here, knowing how to balance legal risk with getting deals done, and when to bring something to the Head of Legal & Compliance rather than resolve it alone.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate a range of B2B commercial agreements, including customer contracts, supplier agreements, NDAs, partner and reseller agreements and contractor agreements, taking ownership of routine negotiations from first draft through to signature
- Review and negotiate data protection provisions and data processing agreements within customer and supplier contracts, applying practical knowledge of UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 to real commercial situations
- Act as a day to day point of contact for legal queries, dealing directly with internal stakeholders and counterparties to keep deals moving at pace
- Partner closely with Sales, Customer Success, Partnerships, Finance and Operations, providing pragmatic, commercially minded advice that balances legal risk with getting deals done
- Manage multiple contracts and matters at the same time, keeping accurate records and maintaining strong organisation and attention to detail throughout
- Support the Head of Legal & Compliance on wider legal matters as needed, including tenders, procurement processes and contract templates
- Contribute to the ongoing development of legal processes, templates and ways of working as the function scales
Requirements
- 2 to 5 years relevant legal experience, gained in house and/or within a commercial law firm
- Strong, hands on experience personally drafting, reviewing and negotiating B2B commercial agreements, rather than supporting others on transactions
- Experience across several of the following: customer agreements, supplier contracts, NDAs, partner and reseller agreements and contractor agreements
- Practical working knowledge of UK data protection legislation, including UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, applied in a commercial or contracts context
- Experience reviewing and negotiating data protection provisions and data processing agreements within customer and supplier contracts
- Comfortable owning routine contract negotiations and dealing directly with internal stakeholders and counterparties
- Strong commercial judgement, pragmatic and able to balance legal risk with getting deals done
- Able to work as an individual contributor, reporting into the Head of Legal & Compliance
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail, and experience managing multiple contracts and matters at once
- Experience in SaaS, technology, B2B services or another fast moving commercial environment is a strong plus

Please note: qualification as a solicitor is not necessarily a requirement for this role but strong legal training is. We would like to hear from experienced paralegals and legal associates with the right commercial contracts and data protection background.
