Our client, a well-established and highly regarded legal practice, is seeking an experienced Legal Cashier to join their Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with legal accounts experience to join a supportive organisation that offers long-term career development, flexible working arrangements and an outstanding benefits package.

The Opportunity

Working within the Finance Department and reporting to the Head of Finance, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules and supporting the efficient running of the firm's financial operations. You will be responsible for a broad range of legal cashiering duties, helping to safeguard both the business and its clients while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing and approving CHAPS and BACS payments
  • Completing bank reconciliations
  • Managing client and office account transfers
  • Processing bills, credit notes and write-offs
  • Handling daily banking of cash and cheques
  • Processing card transactions and stamp duty payments
  • Maintaining direct debit and standing order records
  • Reconciling petty cash and credit card statements
  • Processing expense claims and assisting with month-end activities
  • Managing unclaimed monies ledgers
  • Responding to internal and external finance queries
  • Supporting compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules, VAT regulations and anti-money laundering requirements
  • Identifying opportunities to improve finance processes and procedures

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Previous experience working as a Legal Cashier or within legal accounts
  • A strong understanding of Solicitors Accounts Rules
  • At least one year's experience within the legal accounting sector
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
  • Experience using legal practice management and accounting systems
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong communication skills and a professional approach
  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a wider team
