We’re working with a forward-thinking and highly regarded law firm who are looking to recruit an experienced Legal Cashier to join their Finance Team in Newbury.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous legal cashiering and legal finance experience who has a strong understanding of regulatory accounting requirements and is looking to join a friendly, collaborative Finance function.
The Role
As part of the Finance Team, you’ll provide general finance support with a particular focus on legal cashiering, financial transactions and compliance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across the firm, ensuring financial transactions are processed accurately and efficiently while maintaining high standards of compliance and attention to detail.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Verifying and processing bank payments and receipts
- Completing bank reconciliations and transfers
- Accurately processing financial transactions relating to residential property matters
- Analysing and processing client invoices and credit notes
- Recording disbursement invoices
- Processing card payments
- Posting client interest
- Recording and reconciling receipts
- Dealing with incoming Finance post, emails and telephone calls
- Completing reconciliations and financial reporting
- Carrying out periodic reporting and monitoring of financial transactions
- Completing file reviews and client balance reviews
- Providing general support to the wider Finance Team

About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Experienced as a Legal Cashier within a law firm or legal environment
- Able to demonstrate a minimum of 3 years' legal finance experience
- Experienced in processing legal financial transactions and reconciliations
- Knowledgeable about the Solicitors Accounts Rules and regulatory accounting requirements
- Highly numerate with excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Well organised with strong time management skills
- Comfortable working under pressure while maintaining accuracy
- Confident communicating with colleagues, clients and professional contacts
- Experienced in handling confidential financial information
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable using internet banking systems
- A strong team player who can build effective working relationships
- Proactive, reliable and able to work independently
