Legal Cashier (12-Month FTC)

Location: London

Employer: US Law Firm

Work Arrangement: Hybrid

Our prestigious US law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Cashier to join its Client Account team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. Working across London and other international offices, this role focuses on accurate client account processing, daily compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules, and delivering best-in-class service within a collaborative, high performing finance function.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client account posting - Input and post all client-account transactions accurately and on time.
  • Financial controls - Ensure full adherence to internal controls, policies and procedures.
  • Daily compliance - Monitor compliance through exception reporting and promptly address breaches.
  • AML checks - Apply AML procedures and cross reference payees.
  • Bank statement review - Review multicurrency statements daily and process incoming funds.
  • Electronic payments - Prepare and process payments and receipts in line with statutory requirements.
  • Payment authorisation - Authorise client and office account payments.
  • Unallocated funds - Follow up and ensure correct treatment of unallocated monies.
  • Residual balances - Assist with reconciliation and treatment of residual balances.
  • Bank reconciliation support - Provide insight on outstanding reconciliation items.
  • Audit support - Assist with internal and external audits, including the SRA audit.
  • Month-end deadlines - Maintain high standards of accuracy and meet strict month-end and year-end deadlines.

Experience Required

  • Experience within a legal finance client account cashiering role, within a global firm.
  • Strong knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professional, reliable and well organised.
  • Proactive, adaptable and confident using own initiative.
