Holland Family Law is a specialist family law firm based in Leicester, serving clients across Leicestershire and the wider East Midlands region. The firm advises on a full range of family law matters, including divorce and separation, domestic abuse, financial and property disputes, and cases involving children. Led by director Jennifer McNeil, who has over 20 years of experience, the team includes experienced family and divorce lawyers and dedicated paralegals. As a Resolution accredited firm, the practice is committed to resolving family issues in a constructive and supportive way.
Role Description
This is a part-time but scope to increase to full-time, hybrid Legal Cashier/Bookkeeper role based in Desford. The role involves managing client and office accounts in accordance with CILEx Regulation/Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Accounts Rules, including processing receipts, payments, and transfers, and maintaining accurate ledgers. The Legal Cashier/Bookkeeper will reconcile bank accounts, monitor client balances, and ensure timely payment of invoices, disbursements, and counsel fees. The position also includes preparing financial reports for management, supporting month-end and year-end processes, and liaising with fee earners to resolve account queries. The role requires close attention to compliance, confidentiality, and data integrity, as well as effective communication with colleagues and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

- Proven experience as a Legal Cashier or Bookkeeper in a law firm or professional services environment, with strong knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules and legal accounting practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office (especially Excel), with strong numeracy and data entry skills and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage client and office ledgers, perform bank reconciliations, process invoices and payments, and support month-end and year-end financial processes.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads, meet deadlines, and maintain accurate records in a busy practice.
- Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with fee earners, support staff, and external contacts while maintaining confidentiality.
- Understanding of compliance requirements in legal practice, including anti-money laundering procedures and data protection principles.
- Relevant bookkeeping or accounting qualification (such as AAT or similar) is highly beneficial; experience in family law or another legal discipline is an advantage.
