Your Purpose
MSC Cruise Management UK is seeking a driven Claims Manager to join our Legal and Insurance team. The role requires experience in the cruise or wider maritime industry, with a strong focus on personal injury claims handling and insurance-related matters.
The successful candidate will manage a range of shipping-related and complex personal injury claims with limited supervision, and act as a key liaison with internal stakeholders and external counterparts, including opposing counsel, P&I insurers, agencies, ship command and other departments, ensuring effective coordination and resolution of claims.
Your Impact
- Independently manages Admiralty matters, including coordination of legal response and case handling.
- Handles personal injury claims, ensuring timely assessment, documentation and resolution.
- Manages deviation claims, including analysis, coordination and follow-up with relevant stakeholders.
- Coordinates legal strategy across claims and litigation matters, working closely with internal and external counsel.
- Oversees cross-departmental coordination and ensures effective flow of information across relevant business units.
- Manages external third parties, including correspondents, surveyors, experts and other service providers.
- Leads accident investigation processes, including evidence collection, preservation and case file preparation.
- Conducts settlement negotiations and supports dispute resolution strategies, aiming for efficient and commercially sound outcomes.
- Liaises with external counterparties, including opposing counsel, P&I insurers, P&I correspondents, agents and medical or crew departments.
- Manages P&I insurance matters, including coordination of coverage issues, claims handling, and policy renewals for the fleet.
- Applies strong understanding of shipping agreements, crew employment contracts, Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBAs), ITF standards, PEME requirements and safety of life at sea regulations.
- Provides regular reporting to the Head of Claims on case status, trends, statistics, and potential exposure, including budget forecasting and claims reserves.

Your Journey so far
- English as the primary working language; knowledge of a second language is considered an advantage.
- Maritime and/or legal studies.
- Previous exposure to the cruise or wider maritime industry.
- Knowledge and understanding of personal injury claims handling is required.
- Strong analytical and organisational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work in an international, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work autonomously while also contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to liaise effectively with multiple stakeholders.
- Willingness and ability to travel when required.
