Legal Compliance Manager

A prestigious international law firm is seeking a Legal Compliance Manager for an 18-month fixed term position based in London.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive legal advice and services to leadership and client teams, securing optimal commercial and legal terms of engagement with clients and consultants.
  • Draft and negotiate commercial contracts with clients, consultants, and third parties in alignment with best practices for both UK and Middle East jurisdictions.
  • Develop and manage internal processes and policies to minimise risk while promoting best practices within the team.
  • Resolve queries regarding contractual terms, practising rights, and regulatory issues for consultants and clients in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate closely with partners to ensure alignment between platform terms and firm-wide client terms across all placements.
  • Manage and advise on risk and conflict issues during client placements, escalating matters to relevant teams when necessary.
  • Advise on regulatory, compliance, and tax issues arising from cross-border placements by collaborating with business teams such as Global Mobility and International Tax.
  • Drive implementation of scalable AI legaltech tools to enhance efficiency in legal processes.
  • Collaborate with HR and employment lawyers on compliance with employment laws and firm policies applicable to consultants in both UK and Middle East regions.
  • Lead responses to legal or employee relations challenges by involving appropriate teams as needed.

Requirements

  • Legally qualified in England & Wales or comparable Commonwealth jurisdiction with over five years' experience gained from private practice at a leading international law firm or equivalent in-house role.
  • Strong background in employment law is highly desirable for handling complex compliance matters across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Experience working within alternative legal services platforms or premium recruitment agencies will be advantageous for understanding flexible resourcing needs.
  • Interest in AI legaltech solutions combined with practical experience implementing technology-driven process improvements is preferred.
  • Commercial acumen paired with problem-solving abilities enables you to deliver effective recommendations under pressure.
  • Exceptional organisational skills allow you to manage competing priorities efficiently while maintaining excellent attention to detail throughout all tasks.
  • Comfortable engaging with senior lawyers and clients at all levels; your interpersonal skills foster trust-based relationships within diverse teams.
  • Hands-on approach coupled with flexibility ensures you can support colleagues across various functions whenever required.
