Responsibilities
As Legal Counsel in the Hines Global Legal Team you will assist with design, construction and related matters across Hines’ European development platform, work alongside the Hines Conceptual Construction team (“CCG”), develop strong partnerships with Hines’ central, regional and international offices, and coordinate with outside legal counsel as required. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Negotiate and draft design, construction and related contracts.
- Assist with preparing RFPs and advising project teams during tendering processes.
- Assist in responding to project issues (change order requests, delay claims and defective work situations), prepare related correspondence and assist in the selection and monitoring of outside counsel if necessary.
- Assist with preparing, updating and implementing Hines’ playbooks, guidelines and template contract forms.
- Advise on different procurement and delivery strategies and forward commitment deal structures, including the development of annexes and other support documents.
- Work closely with CCG and members of the Hines Legal, Compliance and Risk teams, as well as other stakeholders, and manage competing interests and priorities.
- Provide support to central departments and international and regional offices through the review and negotiation of other vendor and other services contracts (geotechnical and environmental consulting agreements, insurance manuals, purchasing agreements, etc.).
- Support litigation activities related to design and construction.

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements include:
- 4-8 PQE
- Experience with transactions and/or legal qualification in different European jurisdictions is a plus but not a prerequisite
- Licensed to practice law in the UK or other relevant European jurisdiction
- Knowledge of other European languages is a plus but not a prerequisite
- Strong academic credentials
- Highly confident, articulate, self-motivated, self-sufficient, and enthusiastic individual who is a team player
- Entrepreneurial mindset and focus on outcomes over output
- Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and AI software
- Ability to travel periodically
- Preference for experience in selecting and managing outside counsel
- Some limited international business travel may be required from time to time
