Your mission
Datamaran is hiring a Legal & Contract Manager in London. You will be our entire in-house legal function: contracts, privacy and practical advice for a B2B SaaS business that moves fast.
Most legal hires get measured by what they block. This one gets measured by what moves because of it: deals closed, contracts signed, risk handled without slowing anyone down. You get external counsel behind you and a mandate to build this function around technology and AI from day one.
You report to JP, our COO, and you own legal end to end.
- Draft and negotiate B2B SaaS agreements (MSAs, DPAs, SLAs and renewals) with customers and partners, as well as procurement agreements and renewals with suppliers and vendors, balancing commercial judgement against legal risk
- Own global data protection and privacy compliance as our Data Privacy Champion (we don’t have a DPO), from policy to day-to-day practical advice
- Provide guidance to the C-suite, in particular the COO and Company Secretary, on compliance obligations and delegated authorities and approvals
- Support People on employment, contractor and immigration questions as we hire across the UK, US, Netherlands and Spain
- Partner with Sales, Finance, People, Marketing and Product as the go-to person for practical legal advice, not just risk flagging
- Manage legal and operational requests efficiently: trademark questions, contract reviews and the occasional legal curveball, knowing when to escalate, delegate or push back
- Build and improve legal templates and workflows so contracts move faster without cutting corners
- Build a legal function that runs on technology and AI, from contract workflows to review and legal ops
Your profile
- Experience in commercial and contract law inside a B2B SaaS or tech business, in-house or advising tech clients
- A good working grasp of UK business law, since most of our contracts are governed under that legislation. US or EU experience is a plus
- Hands-on data protection and privacy experience across jurisdictions, with GDPR as your base, that you can turn into plain, practical advice
- Real enthusiasm for what AI can do in legal work: you prompt, you experiment, and you want to drive that shift here rather than catch up to it later
- Fluent, business-level English, written and spoken
- Nice to have: a qualified solicitor title (we care more about judgment than the title), experience with a contract management system, or exposure to ESG, sustainability or regulatory software.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
