Legal Counsel

Role with a dynamic business experiencing real growth in the wider engineering services sector.

Location

West Midlands/Staffordshire HQ (hybrid working 3 days per week) Salary c.70-75k

About the Role

Joining an existing legal team of 4, we are looking for a Legal Counsel to join the business and get exposure to a broad range of in-house matters, acting as a genuine business partner.

You will support internal stakeholders across Ops, Sales, IT, Finance, Procurement and provide ongoing guidance to the SLT.

This is not a typically narrow role, so you must be adaptable, inquisitive, eager to learn and looking to truly get under the skin of the business and develop your natural commerciality.

Responsibilities

You will handle (with appropriate support):

  • Full range of commercial agreements supporting sales and commercial teams to drive revenue and protect the business
  • Advise on ongoing compliance and governance matters and roll out appropriate training
  • As a naturally acquisitive business work with the GC on M&A and associated company law
  • Drive legal advice as part of certain project teams, tech transformation, IP roll out
  • Give oversight on ad-hoc matters across Property, Employment, Litigation as appropriate

Requirements

With 2-4 years PQE you may currently be working in-house and looking to diversify your skill set, or this is an ideal first move in-house for a private practice lawyer looking for a supportive platform to build and develop a career in industry.

Corporate Solicitors are certainly of real interest as you are so often the pivot between a number of teams and are given excellent grounding across wider business issues.
