Legal Counsel | Banking as a Service (BaaS)

📍 London (Hybrid) | 12-Month Fixed-Term Contract

We're partnering with an innovative financial services business to appoint a Legal Counsel to support the continued growth of its Banking as a Service (BaaS) and embedded finance propositions.

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer who enjoys working closely with product, commercial, and technology teams to bring new propositions to market. You'll play a key role in advising on strategic partnerships, product development, and the legal and regulatory frameworks that underpin BaaS solutions.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing practical, commercially focused legal advice across a range of BaaS and embedded finance initiatives.
  • Supporting the design, development, and launch of innovative financial services products.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a variety of commercial and partnership agreements.
  • Advising stakeholders on legal and regulatory risks while enabling business growth and innovation.
  • Working closely with product, commercial, compliance, and regulatory teams to deliver customer-focused solutions.
  • Monitoring and interpreting relevant legal and regulatory developments within the financial services sector.

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified Solicitor or Barrister with relevant post-qualification experience.
  • Strong knowledge of the UK financial services regulatory landscape.
  • Experience advising on banking, lending, payments, embedded finance, or Banking as a Service propositions.
  • Excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Previous in-house legal experience within a bank, fintech, financial institution, or regulated financial services business.
  • Experience supporting Banking as a Service (BaaS), embedded finance, POS lending, payments, or digital banking propositions.
  • Familiarity with working alongside product and technology teams in an agile or delivery-focused environment.
