Summary
Energean plc, the international oil and gas company, is the leading independent, gas-focused, exploration and production company on the London stock exchange, with assets in the Mediterranean and UK North Sea. The company has material growth plans in its existing geographies and across Africa and as a result, we are seeking a lawyer for the role of Legal Counsel, based in London.
This is an exciting opportunity for a UK-qualified corporate/energy lawyer to join our UK legal team working closely with, and reporting to, the Group General Counsel, and supporting our dynamic and fast-paced business.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide advice on the full range of legal matters affecting the business operations, including in connection with a variety of corporate, commercial, M&A, construction, offtake transactions, as well as assist in disputes and governance processes.
- Working closely with the Group General Counsel and other members of our international legal team to support business growth and operations.
- Supporting key internal stakeholders in connection with all-related legal matters.
- Liaising with external lawyers and other advisers to ensure business objectives are met efficiently and comprehensively.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Demonstrable UK post-qualification experience in a leading international law firm and/or as an in-house counsel, in a corporate/transactional and/or energy environment;
- Qualified Minimum of 1 year PQE;
- Excellent academics;
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills;
- Positive, independent and proactive approach; commercially-focused, practical;
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment;
- Strong team-work skills;
- Exposure to AI and/or legal automation tools;
- Helpful, flexible and adaptable to evolving business needs.
