I'm working with a fantastic client of ours who are a large and global financial services firm.

They are recruiting for their legal team supporting the exchange and clearing side of the business.

It's a well-established team with plenty of excellent Lawyers to learn from but where you will also be given lots of responsibility and the chance to lead on a number of projects.

There is a strong regulatory element to the role but the hiring manager is quite comfortable with people not coming from the exact area they cover as there will be new things to learn every day and they can get you up to speed in the specifics of the areas affecting them but it would obviously be a huge advantage if someone did.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Alongside the regulatory side there is a close relationship with the business and external clients that will require a lot of commercial work so you get real breadth.

I would venture that this is probably one of the most interesting in-house roles you could look at that will offer variety, support, and autonomy which you won't often find.

They are open to a few different levels. Ideal would be 2+ PQE but they will look anywhere from NQ-5 ish years for the right person.

You have to genuinely want to take on work you haven't done before and be able to manage stakeholder relationships.

Private practice or in-house backgrounds are both of interest.

They are 5 days a week in the office so that has to work for you.

This is an urgent requirement so please get in touch ASAP if you'd like to discuss it.
