Job Description
Looking for an in-house legal role where no two days look quite the same?
At EDF, Success is Personal. As Legal Counsel within Nuclear Operations, you’ll use your legal expertise to support one of the UK’s most important energy businesses, working across complex commercial, regulatory and operational matters that genuinely make an impact.
The Opportunity
This is a broad and varied role. You could be advising on a commercial contract one day, supporting a regulatory or health and safety matter the next, or helping the business navigate a dispute or complex property issue.
You’ll work closely with colleagues across Nuclear Operations and the wider EDF Group, providing pragmatic, commercially focused advice that helps the business make confident decisions and manage risk effectively.
The role is based at Gloucester Business Park, with Monday and Tuesday as our regular on-site days, giving you the opportunity to work closely with the team in person while benefiting from flexibility across the rest of the week. Travel to other EDF UK locations may be required depending on business needs, with occasional travel within Europe.
You’ll join us on a competitive salary, alongside an excellent benefits package.
Due to the vetting requirements associated with this role, we’re unable to offer sponsorship and applicants must have lived in the UK continuously for the last three years.
Who You Are
We’re looking for someone who brings strong legal judgement, commercial awareness and, just as importantly, a collaborative approach.
You’ll enjoy being part of a team, be willing to get stuck in and support colleagues when priorities shift. You’ll be open-minded, adaptable and comfortable working across a varied workload. Are you experienced in...

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

“The team are fantastic, hardworking and knowledgeable, but most importantly everyone is kind and approachable. I have had the opportunity to work on some really interesting and complex issues that I wouldn’t necessarily have had the opportunity to do in private practice.
