Legal Counsel | Banking

Title: VP
Location: London
Sector: International Banking | Financial Services
Salary: Competitive, with excellent benefits
Reporting to: Head of Legal
WFH: Hybrid working arrangements

About the Role

A leading international Banking Group is seeking a commercially focused Banking Legal Counsel to join its EMEA legal team. This is a broad, business-facing role supporting complex corporate banking and transaction banking activities across multiple jurisdictions.

The successful candidate will advise on a wide range of lending and banking matters, partnering closely with front office, credit, risk and operations teams.

The position offers exposure to sophisticated financing transactions, international stakeholders, and a diverse product set rather than a narrow specialist remit.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice on bilateral and syndicated lending transactions, guarantees, and a range of corporate and transaction banking products.
  • Support loan distribution and credit risk insurance transactions.
  • Advise on trade finance matters, including guarantees, letters of credit, bond facilities, cash management, and account documentation.
  • Partner with front office and business teams on structured lending and capital risk transfer arrangements.
  • Provide pragmatic legal guidance on English law matters to stakeholders across the wider business.
  • Manage relationships with external counsel where required and ensure appropriate oversight of legal matters.
  • Support legal knowledge management, documentation governance, policies, and procedural updates.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
