Legal Counsel - Commercial Property

12 Month Fixed-Term Contract

An Exciting In-House Property Opportunity

LHH is delighted to be partnering with a large UK group with a diverse portfolio spanning property, hospitality, retail, investment, and development interests.

We are seeking a commercially minded Legal Counsel - Property to join a highly regarded in-house legal team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. This role offers the opportunity to work across a varied property portfolio and gain exposure to a broad range of commercial real estate matters within a dynamic and entrepreneurial business environment.

Working closely with the Senior Legal Counsel and key stakeholders across the organisation, you will play an important role in supporting property transactions, portfolio management, and strategic development initiatives.

This position would suit a Newly Qualified Solicitor through to approximately 3 years' PQE with experience in, or a strong interest in, commercial property law who is looking to further develop their career within an in-house setting.

The Role

As Legal Counsel - Property, you will provide legal support across a diverse property portfolio, advising on a broad range of matters including landlord and tenant issues, acquisitions, disposals, development projects, and portfolio management.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders and external advisers, contributing to commercially focused legal solutions that support business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate leases, licences, and a variety of property-related agreements.
  • Provide advice on landlord and tenant matters across the property portfolio.
  • Support retail leasing activities for established consumer-facing brands.
  • Assist with acquisitions, disposals, and investment transactions.
  • Conduct property due diligence and manage post-completion processes, including Land Registry applications and SDLT filings.
  • Liaise with external legal advisers, surveyors, and other professional stakeholders.
  • Assist in identifying and managing legal and commercial risks.
  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders on a broad range of property-related projects and matters.

About You

  • Qualified Solicitor (NQ to approximately 3 years' PQE).
  • Experience in commercial property law gained in private practice or in-house.
  • Strong commercial awareness and a pragmatic approach to legal advice.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ambitious, proactive, and keen to develop an in-house legal career.
