We are helping our client, an established international B2B SaaS company, expand its legal team as the business continues to grow. The company operates across international markets, including the UK and US, and works with an established portfolio of business customers. It combines the stability of a well-established organisation with an evolving international business environment, offering employees the opportunity to contribute to its continued development.

About the Role

In this role, you will take primary responsibility for commercial legal matters across the UK and US, working closely with business leaders and commercial teams on strategic agreements and day-to-day legal matters. You will have significant ownership of your area, direct exposure to senior stakeholders, and the opportunity to contribute to commercial decision-making. Reporting to the Head of Legal based in the US, the role also offers the opportunity to broaden your legal remit over time as the business grows.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Take ownership of commercial legal matters across the UK and US.
  • Lead the legal work on strategic commercial deals and support the business on related compliance matters.
  • Draft, review and negotiate SaaS, software licensing, vendor, partnership and other commercial agreements.
  • Work closely with Sales and other business functions, providing practical legal advice throughout commercial negotiations.
  • Assess and communicate contractual and commercial risk, helping stakeholders make informed business decisions.
  • Work with colleagues across international teams and support the resolution of commercial disputes through negotiation or mediation.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5+ years of relevant legal experience, including meaningful in-house commercial legal experience.
  • Qualification as a Solicitor in England & Wales with a current practicing certificate, or qualification in another common-law jurisdiction with eligibility to practise in the UK.
  • Strong experience with SaaS, software licensing and/or technology-related commercial agreements.
  • Experience working within a SaaS, software or technology business
  • Strong knowledge of contract and commercial law, with exposure to corporate legal matters.
  • Proven experience independently leading commercial negotiations and working closely with Sales or other business teams.
  • Strong commercial judgement, clear communication skills and the ability to manage matters proactively with limited oversight.
