Job Description
This role exists to act as a legal partner to the teams within Sky that procure the technology solutions and services that underpin Sky’s Connectivity business (both residential and B2B) and will play a key role in supporting Sky’s priority to deliver a Best in Class Connectivity Experience.
The Legal Counsel is also expected to support wider Legal Department initiatives and be an effective delegate for the Senior Legal Counsels.
What You’ll Do
- Negotiate and draft commercial contracts with a focus on the technology and telecoms sector, working in collaboration with commercial, strategy, and finance teams across the business
- Advise stakeholders on legal and commercial risks associated with commercial strategies and propose business-focused solutions
- Work effectively with Sky’s legal Managed Service Provider on Sky contracts, including the development of playbooks and templates
- Support new ways of working including automation, self-serve, guidance, and use of AI
- Develop and maintain know-how and training materials for legal colleagues and relevant stakeholders
- Build effective relationships with commercial and legal colleagues
- Report progress to relevant stakeholders and members of the legal team regularly to enable the effective delivery of the legal team and wider business objectives
Essential Criteria
- Qualified lawyer based in the UK
- Strong attention to detail, with excellent negotiation, drafting, and analytical skills
- Experience in the telecoms and/or technology sector (private practice or in-house), with a track record of working closely with commercial teams
- Proactive and well-organised, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and matters in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport at all levels and collaborate effectively across the Sky Group to deliver business objectives
- Creative and solutions-oriented, with the ability to think laterally and develop customer-focused approaches
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to distil complex issues into clear, concise advice for commercial stakeholders

How You’ll Work
We've adopted a hybrid working approach to give more flexibility on where and how we work. The hybrid working expectations for this role are 3 days in the office per week.
