Legal Counsel – Data Privacy

In-house role at a multinational organisation
West Sussex-based - flexible working
2-5 PQE

Details of the position

In-house Legal Counsel role supporting a large, regulated UK business with a strong digital and data agenda

  • Broad commercial remit with a clear focus on digital products, data, IT and privacy
  • Trusted adviser to senior stakeholders on complex, business-critical issues
  • Exposure to UK and EU regulatory frameworks in a fast-moving environment
  • Opportunity to lead legal input on major projects and initiatives
  • Hybrid working model

Key responsibilities

  • Advise on digital, data protection, privacy and technology matters across the business
  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial and technology contracts
  • Act as legal lead for digital and data-driven projects
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments and assess business impact
  • Manage disputes and litigation within remit
  • Coordinate with global legal and compliance stakeholders
  • Ensure activities align with applicable laws, regulations and ethical standards

About you

  • UK-qualified solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive (England & Wales)
  • 3+ years of post-qualification experience at a law firm or in-house
  • Strong experience in digital, IT and data protection/privacy law
  • Background in a regulated industry (e.g. life sciences, healthcare, technology, financial services) preferred
  • Confident operating independently on complex legal issues
  • Commercial, pragmatic approach to risk
  • Clear communicator, comfortable working with non-legal stakeholders
